Nearly 30 years ago, Marcher Apple Network undertook a wonderful challenge to re-discover and identify varieties of apple (and some pear, plum etc.) in the Marches. 28 years on and they have been a wonderful success as detailed in the attached. However, like all things, new blood is needed. So please if conservation, preservation, orcharding, identifying and discovering lost varieties and maybe new varieties for the future is your thing. Please get involved. MAN did what everyone claims to want and support but they actually need new enthusiasts. If as cider makers and apple lovers we can not raise enough support for this very well established and successful orchard and varietal preservation group, then so much great work will be lost yet again.
